After eight years of breeding low-allergen Siberian kittens, Seacliffe Siberians has closed.

Over the years, we have been privileged to share our home with seven Siberian cats and attend the birth of 68 kittens.

Although it has been hard seeing the kittens leave us, we know they have brought enormous joy to their new families – including many people with cat allergies who thought they would never be able to have a cat, let alone a gorgeous and friendly Siberian.

Some of our adult cats are staying with us as pets. The others have moved to new homes.

We have appreciated receiving so many photos and updates on “our” kittens from their new families. We have also been touched by the many kind messages we have received since announcing that we were bringing our breeding programme to an end.

Thank you for supporting Seacliffe Siberians, and for those of you who were not successful in getting one of our kittens, we hope you will one day find a suitable cat elsewhere.

Sincerely,
Judee and Neil

Calina with her three A Litter kittens, 9 May 2012

Here’s a never-before-published photo from almost six years ago. It’s Calina with the three A Litter kittens at four days old on 9 May 2012.

The kittens were named Ariana, Alexander and Alfredo (Alfie).

Calina was a great mum and had six litters (one in Toronto and five in Auckland) before retiring in 2015. She now lives with a family in the Wairarapa, but her daughter Hoku remains with us.

Siberian kittens Quiana (left) and Quella at 15 weeks old, 6 Feb 2018

Quiana and Quella were grooming each other this evening so I grabbed the camera to capture their sisterly affection – but of course they stopped as soon as they saw me.

But I think this photo is kind of nice anyway.

These kittens will soon be off to their new homes.

Where’s Quincy, you might ask? He’s already bringing joy to a family (see the previous blog post).

Crossing fingers in hopes of getting a low-allergen Seacliffe Siberians kitten

Will they be in luck? We hope so!

Harley on his seventh birthday, 29 Jan 2018

Harley, our first breeding male, is seven years old today and looking very handsome.

We met Harley when he was just a few months old, at Angara Siberians, near Boston.

Harley is a real sweetheart, and has been a wonderful father to eleven litters of Siberian kittens.

Siberian kitten Otis at almost eight months old, 27 Dec 2017

Some of our cats have a certain attraction to doors, as in they like to jump on top of them and sit. Wish my balance was that good.

Vicky sent us some nice photos of her Seacliffe Siberian Otis, and we particularly liked this one, where Otis shows how useful a door can be when you need to get to some place high.

This video was made about a month ago. It shows a bit of the personalities of Quella and Quincy.

They still love to wrestle.

Six-month-old Siberian kitten Pico, adapting to his new home, 8 Jan 2018

Pico checks the sofa dimensions of his new home, Jan 2018

Hannah and Jeffry are the proud new parents of Seacliffe Siberian kitten Pico.

“As soon as we arrived home Pico was out of his crate and exploring his new home. He ate all his meals in one go, and spent the evening snuggled up on my lap purring away. He did complain for a few minutes when we shut him out of our bedroom, but after that, he was silent all night. He was very excited to see us this morning and didn’t leave our side, even following us to the bathroom and just wanting lots of play.

“We are in love with him and very happy, and so pleased he seems to be settling in so quickly and is very well behaved.”

Siberian kitten Quella, lying across her sister Quiana, 14 Jan 2018

The three Q Litter kittens are 12 weeks old today, so we will soon begin their Fel d1 testing.

Here’s a photo taken yesterday of Quella (white paws) lying across her sister Quiana (dark paws) – proving that comfort for kittens may not be quite the same as for humans. 🙂

Siberian kitten Beth, visiting Rome, 13 Jan 2018

We got a nice note and heaps of photos from Seacliffe Siberian cat Beth (ex Indigo) who is currently visiting Rome.

As you can see from the photo, Beth is leash-trained. She became a local celebrity when Helen would walk her on her leash in Wellington, and is now turning heads in her new home, Barcelona.

Happy travels Beth!
