Siberian queens Hoku (13 mo old) and Ksana (12 mo old) high on a climbing post, 26 September 2016

You might remember Ksana, who joined us two months ago from Starport Siberians in New Hampshire.

We wondered how she would cope when it came time to meet our other adult cats and it was definitely interesting to watch. There was very little animosity and, in fact, Ksana stood her ground with all the other cats.

She is one month younger than Hoku and we thought they might be rivals, especially as they are both close to breeding age. But after a few days they became friends. That’s not to say they don’t wrestle and chase each other around the house, but it’s all in fun.

Siberian kitten Kiska, sporting her red-tipped tail, at 20 days old, 20 September 2016

Thanks for waiting! Here is kitten number four from the K Litter.

Kiska (the name means “little female cat” in Russian) is a seal lynx point with white.

Since there are three kittens with the same pattern in this litter, we have resorted to colouring their tails to tell them apart, and Kiska’s is red.

See more photos on the Kiska page.

And thanks again to everyone who suggested names for the kittens – you make our job easier, but never easy!

And here’s kitten number 3 from the K Litter!

Getting confused? Well, Ksenia is the most easily identifiable of the four kittens in this litter. All of them are lynx points, but Ksenia is the only one without white masking, so her feet are grey and will get darker as she ages.

See more photos on the Ksenia page, and check back tomorrow to meet kitten number 4!

Siberian kitten Kiko at 20 days old, 20 September 2016

Here’s a test for you: can you spot the difference between today’s kitten, Kiko, and yesterday’s kitten, Katrina?

Well, I can’t – except for the blue mark we’ve put on the tip of Kiko’s tail (Katrina’s is green).

These kittens actually are slightly different colours: Kiko is a blue lynx point with white, while Katrina is a seal lynx point with white. The difference should become clearer when they’re a little older.

For now, they’re both just incredibly beautiful, as are the two other kittens in the K Litter. Check in tomorrow to meet number 3!

Siberian kitten Katrina at 20 days old, 20 September 2016

Breaking news: We have individual photos – and names – for the K Litter kittens.

But, borrowing an idea from reality television, we’re going to announce just one name today, and the others over the next three days. After all, each kitten deserves their day of fame, don’t you think?

So, here’s number one – the first-born, and probably the feistiest so far, of the K Litter.

Katrina is a female seal lynx point with white (check out those cute little toes).

We have several more photos on the Katrina page.

Thanks to everyone who suggested names starting with ‘K’. And be sure to check here tomorrow for the next K Litter kitten!

The K Litter kittens will be three weeks old tomorrow, and today they ventured out of their birth nest for the first time. They were certainly ready, and wasted no time powering around the blue blanket.

If you listen carefully, you can hear the kittens squeaking. You may also notice that three of the kittens have colourful marks on the tips of their tails. That’s so we can tell them apart!

Their mother, Cici, appears too.

We took individual photos of the kittens today, which I’ll be posting soon.

Well, it’s been quite a while since I posted anything about our K Litter kittens, but here’s a photo from a few days ago.

At 2 1/2 weeks old, all the kittens are doing well. One is now over 400g with the others not far behind.

In the next few days I hope to get some individual photos of them.

Cici and the K Litter

It must be spring! We have four colourpoint kittens, born six days ago on 31 August.

This is the “K” litter, so it is time to start sending us your suggestions of names starting with “K”. As soon as the kittens’ personalities start to emerge (around two weeks of age) we will select the names that suit them best.

You can send your suggestions by email, or by posting in the comments section below.

The kittens are all above average weight and very vigorous. But they are hard to tell apart. (Actually, we have a secret marking system!) Although their mother Cici is a tabby, all the kittens are colourpoints like their father Harley.

The K Litter

The K Litter

Russell, our long-time vet, made his traditional house-call the day after the kittens were born, and pronounced them and their mother in perfect shape.
